Welcome back to TPA/TPJA and to another school year!
I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer and is ready to begin classes, extra curriculars, and everything else that comes with being a member of the TPA/TPJA community.
It was wonderful to see so many of you at the 7th Grade pool party and at the Back to School Social this past week. Though Mrs. Stoyanoff and I are looking forward to having a terrific new year, we were so excited to get to see YOU this past week. You are a very special, amazing, incredible group of students and parents!
For those of you who don't know, two of our students will not be returning: Tabitha Martinez and Sabrina Rubio. If any of you would like to email or phone them, I know they would be thrilled to hear from you. : )
While I won't be working with you in a teaching capacity this year, I am happy that I'll have the opportunity to see you students on campus every day and to see you parents whenever you are around.
I hope that everyone has a terrific school year filled with fun, joy, wonder, curiosity, and awe.
With much love -
Cheers!
Ms. Nicky Pitman

Almost There!
Wow! Unbelievably, we are in the final two days of the 2009-2010 school year.
The final performances last night were an incredible culmination of the students' work in drama this year. Every one of them did a fantastic job and have made me proud and humbled at the same time.
Thanks to all of you parents for your help, support, and "making" such great kids!
Lockers should be cleared out by the end of today, if not, by tomorrow, Thursday, May 27 (please stop by school before or after the awards assembly to help pick up your student's things, if need be).
Tomorrow: PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR STUDENT TO TPA. Instead:
Bring them to EdOptions High School Auditorium for the All School Awards
2150 E. Southern Ave. Tempe, Az 85282 (west of the Price freeway)
8:20a.m - 12:25p.m.
UNIFORMS ARE MANDATORY!
Thanks again for being such spectacular parents, allowing me to teach your students, and for helping make this an incredibly memorable school year.
With love and gratitude.
Cheers,
Ms. Nicky Pitman

The Countdown Begins!
Three weeks of regular classes left: 15 school days.
Three days of final exams (and one performance).
One day at the very end for an all-school Awards Assembly.
19 days total.
WOW!
There is much to do in these final weeks and it's going to be hard for all of us to keep our focus. However - focus we must!
The final Drama productions and the Sixth Grade End-of-the-Year celebration are slated for TUESDAY, MAY 25 at 6:00 PM in the Zelman Center. All students will have the final part of their play on Monday, May 3. There will be TWO (two) dress rehearsals for EACH production (both Room 503 & 506 have their own play they will be performing): one on Saturday, May 22 (times TBD) and then another one during school time on Monday, May 24. I will be sending information home (paper copy) on Monday. I appreciate everyone's help and cooperation - I know I am asking a lot of you and the students.
The schedule for each Sixth Grade Final Exam will be given the week prior to Finals Week (by Monday, May 17). Please note, the basic schedule as follows:
Monday, May 24:
8:25 AM - 10:25 AM, Final #1
10:25 AM - 10:35 AM: Break
10:40 AM - 12:40 PM: Final #2
Tuesday, May 25:
8:25 AM - 10:25 AM, Final #3
10:25 AM - 10:35 AM: Break
10:40 AM - 12:40 PM: Final #4
Wednesday, May 26:
8:25 AM - 10:25 AM, Final #5
10:25 AM - 10:35 AM: Break
10:40 AM - 12:40 PM: Final #6
*Each Classroom 503/506 will have their dress rehearsal during the #1 final slot or the #2 final slot. During one of the final slots on Tuesday (either #4 or 5), both classrooms will join together to prepare for that evening's festivities. This time slot will be announced when the Finals' schedule is determined.
This weekend our students are enjoying their last R & R weekend of the school year and I hope that gives them some extra energy for the final haul.
Mrs. Stoyanoff and I will be doing our best to keep you abreast of all that's going on in the next few weeks as best we can. However, if you have any questions or need clarification, please don't hesitate to email.
Enjoy your weekend!
Cheers,
Ms. Nicky Pitman

Guess what?! It's an R & R weekend so there's no homework!
However, if you don't have your lines memorized for Part 7 of Mother and the Goose or for Part 8 of Out of the Box, you still need to be off-book by Monday...which means you still have work to do! Sorry. : (
Enjoy your R & R time and come back with good energy and ready-to-work brain cells for the last three weeks of class!

Shower the People You Love With Love
Shower the people you love with love
Show them the way that you feel
Things are gonna be much better
If we only will - James Taylor
And today the Room 503 students did just that: they showered Mrs. Hipple with gifts and treats and lots of love in celebration of the soon-to-be-William Hipple IV.
Thanks to the parents who provided delicious treats. I know Mrs. Hipple was absolutely thrilled with the surprise party and the lovely gifts (see photos below). We are blessed to have such thoughtful, caring students and parents in this 2009-2010 school year!

TPA/TPJA Dared to Care!
Today was the last day of our Dare to Care Campaign-Drive. The students and I are pleased to say that it was a total success!
What started out as a fairly "slow" day on Monday, picked up wildly on Tuesday (go, Section A!), and by this afternoon here were the numbers:
Section A...435 items
Section B...176 items
Section C....92 items
This was a terrific way to get our whole school involved in helping out those less fortunate, and it was a really wonderful event to have the students of Room 503 lead. Our classroom philosophy, O.T.O. (Other Than Ourselves) was fully realized as we were able to not only give to others who have less, but to call ourselves (and others) to extend a hand.
As Margaret Mead once said:
Never doubt that a small group of commited citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
A big thank you to all of you parents who donated!
Tomorrow, at homeroom, the Putrasahans will be bringing in a special treat to celebrate the students' efforts and success. They have truly earned it.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Cheers,
Ms. Nicky Pitman
